New study on 50 Hz magnetic fields and cancer

Italian cancer study founds promotional effects in rats that received a single dose of gamma radiation and were exposed for their lifetime to low-dose power frequency magnetic fields.

The research team headed by Fiorella Belpoggi found in its large-scale animal study promotional effects for three tumour types when the animals (rats) received a single dose of Gamma Radiation (0.1 Gy) and were exposed to 50 Hz magnetic fields (20 Microtesla, 1 Millitesla) for their entire lifetime.

The Group intends to publish additional results concerning co-exposure of 50 Hz EMF and a carinogenic chemical.
